  • Due to the advancement of social medical care and public health, the invention and use of antibiotics and vaccines, the occurrence and death of acute infectious diseases have been effectively controlled, and the cause of human death has been transformed into noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Noncommunicable diseases kill 41 million people worldwide each year, accounting for 71% of global deaths. Cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease are the four major non-communicable diseases. The four major risk factors for non-communicable diseases are smoking, alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity (WHO, 2018). Among them, "lack of exercise" has become the fourth leading risk factor for death. According to research by the World Health Organization, more than 1.4 billion adults around the world lack exercise, and they are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease and cancer. And routinely regular exercise has been shown to help prevent and treat heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as breast and colon cancer. And regular exercise can also help prevent high blood pressure, overweight and obesity, and can improve mental health, quality of life and well-being. Therefore, in 2007, the American College of Sports Medicine (American College of Sports Medicine) and the American Medical Association (American Medical Association) jointly launched the "Exercise is medicine, Exercise is medicine (EIM)" action plan.
  • However, since the promotion of EIM in 2007, although the promotion of physical activity has been valued by many countries, but exercise prescriptions are still in the form of health education publicity and activity promotion mainly for public welfare, lacking a stable and continuous implementation structure and platform. Limited by the lack of effective tools, adequate resources and supportive strategies, not to mention the coordination and cooperation of global leadership and regional and national building, the effectiveness of physical activity promotion is extremely limited and short-lived. WHO (2018), in response to the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases, published a new "Global Action Plan to Promote Physical Activity" (WHO GLOBAL ACTION PLAN ON PHYSICAL ACTIVITY 2018-2030), this action plan is through the global Developed through a consultative process involving various sectors of government and stakeholders including health, sport, transport, urban design, civil society, academia and the private sector.
  • The purpose of this association is to promote the concept and education of fitness and sports medicine, and to improve the health of all citizens. It is hoped that resources such as medical and health care, sports, academia and the private sector can be combined to further strengthen the implementation effect of exercise as a good medicine, and the exercise prescription is divided into two parts: the exercise referral prescription of physicians and the exercise execution prescription of sports science professionals. And actively promote:
(1) Training and certification of fitness promotion personnel and sports guidance professionals
(2) Planning and development of healthy sports fields in the community and workplace
(3) International cooperation and development of successful cases of "Exercise is good medicine"
  • To ensure that all people have access to a safe and enabling environment with diverse opportunities to be physically active in their daily lives. To contribute to the social, cultural and economic development of Taiwan and all countries around the world through programs that improve personal, community and workplace health.
  • In the near future, we will first try to invite existing professionals such as medical and health care, fitness guidance, and fitness industry operations. Taking the training and certification of fitness promotion personnel as the goal, construct a joint promotion framework and interactive platform, and create a continuous incentive and fitness support environment to attract people to participate. In the future, we will cooperate with the industry to plan sports guidance talent training and certification course system, strive for the recognition of international organizations and medical professional groups, and actively promote the "exercise is good medicine" action plan.
